This postcard was printed in the mid 1860's and depicts life on the Ohio River and at the foot of the Roebling Bridge while it was under construction. In Covington ice houses were a thriving business even into the early 1930's. Thispostcard depicts one of the many Covington ice houses and their location to quickly get their goods across the river to Cincinnati for trade.
At the time riverboats were still the primary mode of transportation between Ohio and Kentucky.
