A Rich & Storied History

The Visionary Engineer

John A. Roebling, a German born engineer, revolutionized bridge construction with his innovative use of wire rope. His crowning achievement, the Covington-Cincinnati Bridge, opened in 1867 and was the longest suspension bridge in the world at the time.

Despite facing floods, financial challenges, and the Civil War, the bridge became a vital connection between Kentucky and Ohio. Roebling Point quickly grew into a bustling hub of commerce and residential life at the Kentucky foot of this engineering marvel.
