A riverboat scene of activity about 1870
The Riverboat scene in this sketch is dated about 1870. It is a depiction of life on the Ohio River from the banks of Covington looking north to Cincinnati.
The cities of Covington and Cincinnati both began to grow rapidly upon the opening of the bridge. Businesses and life both began to flourish near the vicinity of the Roebling Bridge. Since the Roebling's opening in 1867 it has facilitated commerce between Ohio and Kentucky and to a broader aspect the north and the south.
